Galilee

The Galilee is situated in the north of Israel and many Israelis choose to escape to the Galilee from the hustle and bustle of city life. The Galilee is a region where countless historical events took place in both the Old and New Testament.

The rolling green hills, fertile valleys and stunning lake- the Sea of Galilee- draws many visitors from all over the world, from all different religions. Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Druze holy men are buried in the region and many religious people come, seeking spiritual solace. Together with this, the area is one of earthly delights with top-quality restaurants and spas.

Places that are worth a visit include Rosh pina, a town with an undeniably rural feel to it that was one of the first settlements in Israel, Safed, the global centre of Kabbalah, home to ancient synagogues and talented artists, the Hula Valley- a drained swampland that is centered around a lake and nature reserve and the Jordan River that one can kayak down. There is an amazing number of outdoor and leisure pursuits in the Lower Galilee, including Zippori, the home to incredible archaeological discoveries, Gan Ha’shlosha which is a national park with naturally warm springs, Mount Gilboa which offers breath-taking views of the Lower Galilee and the Jezreel Valley and Nazareth- the largest Arab city in Israel which has recently been enjoying somewhat of a tourism renaissance.
